(Grades 4-8)

Just to clear up the most commonly asked question, this is an ACTING camp, not a crime scene investigation camp. At SPEAK OUT: FORENSICS ACTING CAMP, a two-week long program, students currently in grades 4 through 8 use plays, stories, poems, or their own writing to focus in on the details of performance and public speaking. Students can perform in a solo piece, with a partner, or in a group performance. Participants play with different techniques that address line interpretation, character development, stage fright, body language, improvisational theater, and finding ways to connect with their own emotions and with their audience through the words of their piece. Students will be working with some of the top forensics coaches in the state of Michigan!

Forensics Camp is led by Roeper teacher, Dan Jacobs. Dan has taught science fiction and fantasy literature, forensics, debate and a myriad of other classes at The Roeper School for over 20 years. Dan graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in English, a minor in Social Sciences and certification in Secondary Education. He is also the Head Coach for speech activities at Roeper, including Lincoln-Douglas Debate, High School Forensics and Middle School Forensics.
